If you're looking for a less expensive Twin Lens Reflex (TLR) camera, in comparison to, let's say a Rolleiflex, the Yashica-D is a really great option, for a lot less money.

We photograph every individual camera that we sell.  Please inspect photos as they are part of the item listing.  This Yashica-D has some cosmetic wear.

  • there is etching on the right side of the viewfinder

  • the lens is in good condition

  • dust on the mirror - does not affect image, just the view finder

This camera takes medium format (120) film.  The camera doesn't have a built-in light meter, so you can use a separate one, or start with a light meter app on your smartphone.

A wonderful twin-lens reflex system featuring a Yashinon 80mm f/3.5 lens set (the brighter "taking" lens on this version lets you compose the image through 2.8). The Yashica-D has shutter speeds from 1 second to 1/500th, an aperture range of f/3.5 to f/22, a film advance lock, and upgraded ergonomic control of both shutter speeds and aperture movements.

The twin lens reflex system is a classic - check this video on Dorothea Lange showing her used of a TLR. For portraiture, landscape work, and slow photography in general. They make images with great depth-of-field and are simply beautiful to see the world through.

On this camera and TLRs in general, the way you crank the film via the handle is also integral to cocking the shutter before each shot.  If this is your first TLR, we recommend checking out a manual or watching a YouTube video to ensure you do not damage the shutter-cocking mechanism.
